Does Sugar Cause Cardiovascular Disease And Heart Attack?
by: Manny Aragon
The ongoing dis-information campaign by the big food/medical industrial/governmental complex has left folks confused and determined. Folks are confused about who to listen to, who to trust, and who has legitimate information not tainted by corporate, moneyed interests. Folks then pick who they believe, generally going with the big names (m
oneyed interests), and are determined to follow that advice, often to certain death, I might add.
This scenario has played out for the last fifty years in regards to the root causes and medical “solutions” to Cardiovascular Disease and Heart Attack. By now, we all know that Heart Attacks are caused by arterial plaque build up from too high levels of circulating blood cholesterol…Or do we?…As this article explains the ins and outs of the “cholesterol myth” and why dietary cholesterol intake is not the cause of cardiovascular disease and heart attack.

The real culprit of cardiovascular disease and heart attack is inflammation. Inflammation, chronic inflammation specifically from lifestyle habits such as eating pro inflammatory foods like simple carbohydrates such as grains, grain based foods, added sugars, pro inflammatory oils like trans fats and saturated fats from grain fed animals (regular and organic meat, pork , chicken, farmed fish, milk, cheese, butter, ice cream, etc.) Inflammation damages blood vessels. The body deposits cholesterol on the damaged areas as a band aid.
In the absence of proper nutrients to heal the damaged blood vessels, the cholesterol stays around. As additional damage
piles up, so do the cholesterol deposits. To add insult to injury, cholesterol deposits, in the presence of free radicals circulating in the blood stream (from the same things that brought you inflammation…) will oxidize causing even more damage, deposits, and eventually a rupture that ends in heart attack (or stroke).
What about statins? Well- they do lower cholesterol (which we need for many critical biological processes as I mentioned above) but at the cost of many detrimental “side effects”.  Not only  do statins cause muscle problems, cognitive issues, pain and numbness in the extremities, tendon problems and blood glucose elevations but according to a study by the National Institutes of
Health, statin use causes lowered mitochondrial function and CoQ10 levels.
The mitochondria produce energy and fight free radicals by producing antioxidants. Lower their functionality by taking a statin and you have lowered your body’s ability to fix itself, along with the limitations on cholesterol (which you need to repair your body as well, amongst many other vital processes), and no wonder folks who have been on statins long enough start to literally fall apart…
So, now that the cat is out of the bag- what can you do to to reduce your risk? I’m guessing that most of you out there are eating pretty much a SAD (standard American diet) which now consists of a carb heavy, vegetable oil heavy, processed food heavy diet. Those of you who are should expect to see the typical results- cardiovascular disease and so on. Your cholesterol is normal but you eat the SAD? Fully 50% of all first time heart attack cases involve people with non elevated levels of serum cholesterol.
Here are my recommendations: 1) Switch to a ketogenic diet. 2)eliminate your intake of oils other than olive, coconut, and avocado oils. 3) Eliminate fried foods from your diet. 4) Severely minimize your sugar intake. 5) Eliminate processed foods (packaged foods and restaurant foods) from your diet. 6) Exercise! 7) Get plenty of sleep.
And if that all seems like too much to do on your own, then purchase my 21 day metabolic makeover and get a hand up on changing your lifestyle.
