In this episode I am joined by my wife, the lovely Christabel Tabbada, LAc., An acupuncturist and herbalist by trade, Christabel is a former collegiate (volleyball, crew) and lifetime athlete. She practices in a Sports Medicine clinic in Costa Mesa-with additional specialties in Pediatrics, Womens Health, and Fertility.

Christabel and I talk about how the body responds to seasonal changes and how, when we ignore the warning signs, we are likely to become sick. The focus of this podcast is to give you strategies for staying well (and fit) year round by understanding how to identify the stressors that will drive you to sickenss.

Ultimately by paying close attention to the influence of seasonality on our bodies, we can become more successful athletes – using the power of natures seasonality to our advantage.

Seasonal Illness:

  • Seasonal change usually accompanied by life pattern changes- kids in school, holidays approaching,
  • Forgetting to change gears as the seasonal patterns change- weather changes impacting constitution but food, activity patterns, etc. leaves us vulnerable to invasion- weakens us.
  • Too much sugar, alcohol, processed foods, carbs,
  • Not enough rest and recovery (sleep)
  • Too much coffee
  • Emotional Tsunami- forgetting to take care of yourself
