A Disturbing Conversation- Part 2
by Manny Aragon
Some of you pointed out to me regarding last weeks installment- “what was disturbing about shortness of breath?”
In my zeal to share my story I failed to properly share my concern for my friends health, well-being and longevity. After all, our kids are roughly the same age but given the shortness of breath, my friends portly nature and overall body stiffness-coupled with a recent diagnosis of Type II Diabetes as well as high cholesterol- well, frankly I was concerned that he might not live to see his kids graduate from high school.
As we are both family men- that my friend might not live to see his kids go to college and had a somewhat fatalistic attitude about the whole situation WAS disturbing to me.
What was even more disturbing to me was his assertion that since Type II Diabetes “runs in the family” and “diet and exercise don’t really do that much to help” he was pretty much resigned to the fact that his “Type II Diabetes would eventually turn into Type I Diabetes.” Well, perhaps. If he doesn’t have a heart attack first…
So- let us delve into what many, many studies show CAN be done about Type II Diabetes…
What studies ACTUALLY show is that there is a phenomenally close association with diet and exercise levels and Type II Diabetes. Those with Type II who decide to nourish their bodies with the nutrients that their bodies need to repair themselves and choose to abstain from foods that drive the disease show remarkable improvement- many to the point of showing no clinical signs of the disease.
The farther along you are on your disease pathway, the less time you have for error or dipping your toe into the waters of health. You need to jump in the deep end and swim for the rest of your life. You cant afford to fool around. Eventually your body WILL give out. Diabetes is a NASTY and SLOW death. Not fun- my father in law died of it- strokes, kidney failure, dialysis and all. I wouldn’t recommend this to my enemy- much less a friend.
So- yes, in fact, diabetes can be not only managed but cured- just not by anyone other than the person living in that body. You can cure yourself. It takes some effort. But who doesn’t want to feel great inside of their body?
Now on to high cholesterol. Problem here is the statin drugs. I wont expand but you can find what they do to you here (http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/07/20/the-truth-about-statin-drugs-revealed.aspx)
Now, since all three of these problems I have outlined are pretty much solvable given a commitment to eating with integrity, regular movement, minimizing sitting, and Structural Integration – all relatively inexpensive and efficient methods for attaining and maintaining health (relative to ONE hospital stay or a slow decline involving many doctor visits, drugs, perhaps surgeries, dialysis, etc.)- I cant imagine WHY anyone would want to give up their power and go down the pathway of sickness, misery, and a slow, painful, death.
Can YOU?
